Pinnacle Foods announced Wednesday that it has added Jane Hamilton Nielsen, a leading executive from luxury goods company Coach, to its board of directors.

The Parsippany-based company — which makes Duncan Hines, Hungry Man frozen dinners and Vlasic pickles, among other popular food items—said the addition of Hamilton brings the size of its board up to eight members. Hamilton will serve on the board's audit and compensation committees when her appointment takes effect on March 10.

Hamilton is the executive vice president and chief financial officer at Coach. She also has held executive positions at PepsiCo.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jane to the Pinnacle Foods Board of Directors. Her wealth of financial management and strategic planning experience in the consumer products industry will be an asset to our Board and our Company," Roger K. Deromedi, chairman of Pinnacle Foods, said in a statement.

The announcement comes just a day after a new report showed just 14 percent of the board seats at New Jersey's 111 biggest companies are held by women.
