Roseland-based payroll company ADP said in its Regional Employment Report New Jersey gained 2,610 private sector jobs in the last month of 2013.

According to the report, the bulk of the new jobs were in the services sector, with only 540 new positions in the goods sector. The "Professional and Business Services" industry significantly outperformed other industries, with several thousand new jobs, although ADP reports "job losses in non-reported sectors off-set much of this gain."

New Jersey added a total of 37,000 in 2013, achieving nonfarm private sector growth of 1.1 percent for the year.
