Wayne-based PulseWallet replaces credit cards with... your veins

Many of us have lost a credit card at some point. With this new product though, you'd always be able to pay... unless you lost your veins.

Wayne-based PulseWallet, exhibiting at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, uses its own software to connect your credit card to the pattern of veins in your hand, and "spoof-proof" Fujitsu biometric scanning hardware out of California to scan that pattern at the point of sale.

The good news is you may not need that unwieldy wallet much longer. The bad news is credit card theft may get much bloodier. That may mean a retail comeback for handwear classics like the gauntlet.

Huffington Post reports you won't find the the scanners in any businesses quite yet. But maybe that's a good thing. After all, what if some ne'er-do-well comes up with a mini-version of the scanning technology and clandestinely installs it near hand sanitizers?

What if you can't find a gauntlet in your size?

What? Am I paranoid?

Anyway, only time will tell whether retailers decide to give the new tech a try. Let's just hope the hacking stays on computers.

"Wrist hacking" sounds far more disturbing...
