Triple Play is a weekly NJBIZ feature that asks top executives in New Jersey to talk about three things related to their industry.
Greg Lalevee is the business manager of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825, based in Springfield.
We asked Greg to give us three things that best describe union members:
The image of union members has suffered from stereotypes. Very likely, our members are your neighbors. We live in the same towns, attend the same churches ... our kids go to the same schools and play on the same teams.
Our members are experts in operating heavy equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, backhoes, pavers and the like. They are highly trained and experienced. They continually upgrade their skills and stay current on the newest technology.
Our members bring a sense of pride and a spirit of collaboration in their work, which provides value and enhanced productivity for contractors.
