KPMG named Jim Bartek a partner in its state and local tax and indirect tax practice based in Short Hills. Before joining KPMG, Bartek served as managing director at Alvarez & Marsal LLC, a global professional services firm specializing in turnaround, interim management and global tax planning. Bartek earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Montclair State University.
Northeast Planning Corporation named Matthew Malc head of its Marlton office. He joined the company in May, before which he had six years experience with AXA Advisors in Woodbridge. As head of the office, Malc will continue to help existing and new NEPC clients and expand the team in Marlton.
Montvale resident Janelle Schwartz was named vice president of sales and marketing of M&R Hotel Management based in Great Neck, N.Y. She will oversee sales, marketing, e-commerce, revenue management, public relations and social media.
Schwartz was previously vice president of sales and marketing for Stonebridge Companies, a hotel management company in Englewood, Colo. Earlier in her career, Schwartz was chief talent matchmaker for Montvale executive recruiting firm Cobalt Careers.
Hilton Short Hills named Catherine Salerno director of sales and marketing. Salerno was most recently area director of sales for HEI Hotels & Resorts from 2009 to 2013, where she was responsible for leadership and development of the sales departments at the Marriot Hanover in Whippany and the Embassy Suites Tysons Corner and Le Meridian Arlington hotels in Virginia.
Joseph Nawa was named an account executive in the general industry practice of New Day Underwriting Managers LLC. The Bordentown-based New Day provides technical insurance, risk management and underwriting services. Before joining New Day, Nawa was an underwriting manager at RLI Insurance Company.
Law firm Stark & Stark added Cory A. Rand and Louis M. Ragone to its Princeton office.
Rand is an associate and member of the firm's litigation group. He concentrates his practice in commercial and civil litigation, representing clients in all phases of litigation, from pleadings through appeal, with special emphasis on appellate work.
Ragone is an associate and a member of the firm's divorce group. He concentrates on divorce litigation including child custody, alimony, child support and equitable distribution issues. Ragone handles post-judgment litigation, including cases involving the emancipation of a child, custody or support modification, child support enforcement, college contribution and relocation applications. He also represents clients in domestic violence matters.
Robert Dowdy was named senior vice president of commercial real estate at TriState Capital Bank in its Princeton office. He will be responsible for developing and maintaining loan and deposit relationships for middle-market commercial real estate clients in New Jersey. Dowdy has more than 30 years experience in lending and portfolio management.
David Zaro has joined Pierson Commercial Real Estate, a Morganville-based firm. Zaro has more than a decade of experience in the New Jersey commercial real estate market. Before joining Pierson Commercial, Zaro was an associate director of leasing at Denholtz Associates, a New Jersey-based owner and developer with multistate commercial property holdings.
JK Group has added marketing and creative professionals Hesha Patel and Angel Obregon to its team. Plainsboro-based JK Group provides integrated software and services for corporate philanthropy and social responsibility.
Patel was named director of marketing. She will be responsible for managing marketing initiatives and working with sales and business development to improve revenue and raise awareness of the company's philanthropic solutions. Before JK Group, she served as director of marketing for Activu.
Obregon was named creative director. He is responsible for leading the user interface design and optimization of company products. Before JK Group, he was creative director for Audible.com where he supervised brand strategy and guidelines.
Heather Rambert was hired by Bandwave Systems, a Burlington broadband-based voice and data solutions company, as a technology specialist. Rambert will help manage the company's daily support operations and is responsible for ensuring clients receive fast broadband-based voice and data services. She will supervise the technical team as it responds to and solves customer service requests. Before joining Bandwave, she worked as a supervisor in advanced technology products for Comcast in Philadelphia.
