Roofing manufacturer GAF will relocate its corporate headquarters to 1 Campus Drive in Parsippany, a building vacated this year when Realogy Corp. moved to Madison.
GAF announced the move Wednesday, with plans to shift some 600 employees and contractors from its current headquarters in Wayne after renovations are complete at the Morris County building. In a news release, the company did not disclose terms of the relocation, and it said no decision had been made on the future of its current campus.
GAF had been linked previously to the 380,000-square-foot building along Route 10. The building had been home to Realogy, the residential real estate brokerage giant, which moved in May to a space that was about 100,000 square feet smaller and more efficient.
GAF, North America's largest roofing manufacturer, has been based at a 99-acre campus in Wayne for more than 30 years. Its new home will be a space that was built in 1979 and renovated in 1996, according to a marketing pamphlet from Rockwood Real Estate Advisors.
"Our offices in Wayne, as well as this community, have been terrific for us for many years, and leaving here will be difficult," said GAF President and CEO Bob Tafaro, said in a prepared statement. "However, the building in Parsippany offers us a modern office with improved work efficiencies which will allow us to continue to improve our services to our customers while providing room for future growth.
Wayne recently lost Bayer Healthcare as a corporate tenant, when the pharmaceutical giant consolidated its New Jersey offices into a new headquarters in Hanover. But the Passaic County township is also poised to gain a new company when Haier Group, the Chinese appliance maker, relocates its U.S. base from Manhattan.
