Newark announces Tech Week lineup for Nov. 2-10

By ,

Newark is hosting its second Tech Week beginning Saturday, a nine-day program that invites technology entrepreneurs to build relationships through networking and educational events throughout the city.

Emily Manz, who handles real estate and business attraction for the Brick City Development Corp., said events seek to bridge gaps with aspiring business people and the city's traditional resources, such as business schools and universities and artistic locations.

The city's first "tech week" was held in April.

BCDC is organizing the event with members of Brick City Tech, a Newark meetup group of technology entrepreneurs.

"Newark is so spread out," said Jimi Olaghere, who runs Brick City Tech with entrepreneur Anthony Frasier, and owns e-commerce startup Geek Cook USA. "There are so many pockets of communities, artistic and tech communities. Newark Tech Week brings that all together. Aside from showcasing our talent to the world, it's a chance for us to network with each other and learn what's going on right here."
