Golden Nugget becomes 2nd N.J. casino to receive online gaming permit

By ,

The Golden Nugget announced Wednesday that its Atlantic City casino had become the second in the state to receive its Internet gaming permit from the Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The permit will enable the Golden Nugget to begin operations on its two Internet gaming sites, GoldenNuggetCasino.com and GoldenNuggetPoker.com, in time for the state's Nov. 26 launch date. Bally Technologies will serve as the casino's online gaming technology partner.

The state has mandated that, prior to the target date, each permitted casino must undergo a five-day trial period, which can begin Nov. 21.

Steve Scheinthal, executive vice president and general counsel for parent company Landry's Inc., said that come Nov. 26, the Golden Nugget will be ready to go.

"We're going to be ready to roll out day one," Scheinthal said. "We're excited. We think that there's tremendous opportunity."

The deadline for permit applications was July 30. The Borgata became the first Atlantic City casino to secure its permit on Oct. 9. More casinos are expected to receive permits in the upcoming weeks.
