A joint venture by three New Jersey residential developers — AST Development, Sterling Properties and Heartstone Development — today announced the start of construction at Metro Rahway, a rental community of 116 upscale residences across from the Rahway train station.
The project will transform a former industrial site into a transit-oriented development in walking distance to shopping, restaurants and the arts.
On 1.6 acres along Campbell Street, Metro Rahway will be a four-story building with a mix of one- and two-bedroom residences featuring 9-foot ceilings and ceramic-tiled kitchens.
"People are looking for the type of community where they can walk to everything, and that's what this will be," said Rosanne Brooks, Sterling Properties' director of sales and marketing. "It will attract people who are commuting into Manhattan and empty nesters looking to downsize who need a little bit of convenience."
She said Metro Rahway should be complete and ready to begin leasing in late spring of 2014. The rental rates have not yet been set.
The train station serves NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor lines to midtown Manhattan. Other Metro Rahway amenities include a fitness studio and clubroom with WiFi.
