Helen Tuttle, 39 Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Partner, Labor and Employment Group
Accomplishments: Building a portfolio of clients that include internationally known companies; supporting inclusion, diversity and fairness in the workplace; collaborating with colleagues on a "Law2Life" program to encourage high school sophomores from disadvantaged and under-served neighborhoods to better understand their career options, including the law.
Super Power: Lightning speed.
What You Wish You'd Known Earlier: "The importance of self-promotion in the workplace. In most workplace environments, your colleagues may be too busy to notice all that you do. And you should not expect them to 'just know' of your accomplishments. Find a way to appropriately self-promote and market yourself internally and externally."
Steps to Balance Life and Work: "A good friend reminded me that there is no balance in our lives, just managed chaos. To manage my chaos, I make great efforts to ensure consistency and routine in my family life: helping my daughters get on the school bus at 8:15 a.m., making weekend sports and games a priority, and spending quality time with the family."
People Would Be Surprised to Know: "I was born in South Africa and emigrated to the U.S. as a young child."
