Triple Play is a weekly NJBIZ feature that asks top executives in New Jersey to talk about three things related to their industry.
Linda Bowden is the New Jersey regional president for PNC Bank. A lifelong Jerseyan — just ask her about her birthplace, Jersey City — Bowden is all about growing business in the Garden State both as PNC head and as a member of the board at Choose New Jersey.
We asked Linda for three thoughts on the bank of the future:
Technology: We're seeing that banking customers' preferences are changing as a result of advancements in technology and its prevalence. The result is that at PNC, you'll start to see the branch staff serving more in the role of financial consultants, helping customers better understand the financial products, services and technologies available to them.
Retirement planning: How is your retirement planning coming along? That is a question everyone responds to. And the answers are constantly changing. How people are preparing for retirement today is different than in the past, and will certainly change in the future. We need to be a resource and stay ahead of the curve.
Personal service: Banking will always be about personal relationships. The customer of the future may never come in to our branch, but we will engage them daily. Our goal is for them to come away from every interaction, even if it's online or on the phone, feeling they had a great personal experience.
