Triple Play is a weekly NJBIZ feature that asks top executives in New Jersey to talk about three things related to their industry.
Wayne Hasenbalg is the president and CEO of the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority. He aims to use his role to bring more big events to the Garden State. Wayne is a lifelong Jersey guy with years in the sports and entertainment business.
We asked Wayne for three of his favorite New Jersey moments:
Title fights in Atlantic City: "I have never felt electricity in a room like you felt during a championship fight. I went to all the big title fights in the '80s. To this day, I'll never forget the fights, including the three that I missed because they happened so fast, including one when I was in the line to buy beer, but Tyson knocked the guy out in 30 seconds.
Wrestlemania: "It far exceeded any expectations I had. It is hard to describe the atmosphere here."
Bruce Springsteen: "The Springsteen relationship here is really special. It's different than any other concert for sure. The feeling you get is completely different. He's a Jersey guy and you know he has great affection for this place."
