Morristown-based Covanta Energy announced this afternoon their acquisition of the Camden Resource Recovery Facility from a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler Corp.

The deal is worth $48 million, according to Covanta spokesman James Regan. The facility is the most recent addition to a portfolio of similar plants throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Covanta expects the deal to have a modest positive impact on its 2013 guidance. The Camden facility processed approximately 319,000 tons of waste into more than 146,000 megawatt hours of electricity in 2012, according to the statement.
