Growth of mobile devices is fueling revenue gains at SHI International Corp., an information technology company in the Somerset section of Franklin, which reported a near 12 percent increase in year-to-date sales.

SHI International recorded $2.3 billion in revenue through June 30, according to a news release today. That represents an 11.8 percent increase from the year-ago period, a trend credited to increased adoption of mobile devices and products.  The privately held company did not disclose earnings.

The corporate reseller of software, hardware and related services said it saw big jumps in second-sales for mobile-centric partners, including Apple, Samsung and Lenovo.

“The flexibility and expertise of our hardware and software teams allowed us to help a significant number of SHI customers update their mobile capabilities in the second quarter,” said Hal Jagger, SHI vice president and general manager of corporate sales, in a statement. “By teaching both new and existing customers how their investments in Microsoft and data center technologies can be leveraged to provide better agility and mobility, we help our clients help their end users remain competitive.”

SHI said revenue growth is aiding expansion of its corporate division in Austin, Texas, which is adding workers to serve small and midsized businesses. The corporate division reported 39 percent revenue growth in the first half of 2013.

“Our corporate division’s first half 2013 growth has been fueled by a consistent balance of new customers and new business from existing customers, especially for mobility, storage, networking and advanced solutions,” CEO Thai Lee said.

SHI’s legacy and enterprise sector reported 4 percent revenue growth, while its international business sector saw 21 percent increase in revenue.

The company employs 2,000 globally. SHI products are sold to business, government and academic customers.
