A half-million dollars, just to park

    So here's the deal:

From this point forward, we don't want to hear about how much it's going to cost to park anywhere near MetLife Stadium during the Super Bowl - or at the Shore over Labor Day weekend - or anywhere for any concert in New Jersey this summer.

Just be glad you live in New Jersey and not Boston, where a pair of tandem parking spots in Boston sold for $560,000 last month.

That's right, two spots - back to back so you have to move one car to get to the other - for more than a half a million.

That's the going rate in the coveted Back Bay section of Boston. And if you think that's crazy - you just don't know Boston.

The parking spots, on the right in the Google Street View image above, are located behind 298 Commonwealth Avenue, in one of Boston's most affluent neighborhoods.

"I was worried you were giving me a run for it," the winner, Lisa Blumenthal, told Katie Johnston of the Boston Globe.

"I really wanted them, but there was a limit," the runner-up said.

The runner-up refused to give his name. Perhaps he was considering what to do with his unspent income.

    Related:

For that price, he could buy a townhouse in an Atlantic City high rise, and not have to worry about a parking spot as he'd still have enough money left to buy a 2005 Cessna plane to take him there.

Or think of it this way:

Street parking costs $1.25 per hour in that neighborhood, according to CBS Boston. With $560,000, Blumenthal could park two cars on the street and not move them - for more than 25 years.
