The Morristown-based Hampshire Cos., a full service, private real estate investment firm, announced Wednesday the acquisition of a 66,000-square-foot, free-standing ShopRite grocery store and an adjacent 1,000-square-foot gas station in Albany, N.Y., from Albany-based Columbia Development Cos.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. ShopRite is a subsidiary of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative.

According to the announcement, the grocery store features the latest in energy saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration and lighting, and is the third of four new locations for ShopRite as it enters the Albany market.
