Global accounting firm Prager Metis CPAs LLC said it's enlarging its statewide presence through a merger with Springfield-based Goldfinger, Block, Glickenhaus, Dinar LLP.

Prager Metis said this combination enables the firm, which has an office in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards, to better serve New Jersey clients.

"It expands our footprint in New Jersey; it increases our size and the number of people we reach," said Lori Roth, chief operating officer of Prager Metis' Basking Ridge office.

"And for the GBGD clients, joining forces establishes a deeper breadth of support and services," she said. "The merger provides stability in a very competitive New Jersey market, so it's a good move for both firms."

Seven GBGD employees from Springfield will be relocating to the Prager Metis' Basking Ridge office by the end of the month, according to Prager Metis marketing director Diane Walsh. The Mount Airy Road site currently houses 26 Prager Metis employees.

The agreement was finalized July 1. The cost of the transaction was not disclosed.

Prager Metis CPAs, an affiliate of Prager Metis International, is based in New York, with offices in California, New York, New Jersey and London. The company was formed in January by the combination of Prager and Fenton LLP and Metis Group LLC, resulting in an accounting firm with 30 partners and staff of 140.

GBGD was founded in 1949, mostly serving small and closely held companies.
