Meadowlink, which provides transportation services in six of the most densely populated counties in New Jersey, was named the 2013 Urban Community Transportation System of the Year by the Community Transportation Association of America.

The Wood-Ridge-based company was cited for two programs: Community Cars, which provides more than 1,000 trips per month for isolated senior citizens, and Flex-T, which provided more than 10,000 employment transportation trips for people with disabilities.

Executive director Krishna Murthy accepted the award in Albuquerque, Texas.

Meadowlink was created to improve access to affordable transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and promote economic growth by working with business and government agencies to address the commuting challenges in North Jersey. Under its EZ Ride brand, it manages the state's largest carpool, vanpool and employee shuttle programs.
