After 15 years in journalism, I only recently learned the magic word for getting a source to call me back.

Golf.

For our golf story we published today, I talked to a dozen golfers in New Jersey about where the Garden State's powerful hit the links. The thing is, a few of these golfers were people I had never talked to. Because they likely had no idea who I was, I left a detailed message with the secretary that started: "Please tell him I'd like to talk to him about golf…."

Ka-ching! Calls back very quickly.

If only it was this easy on every story.
