N.J. carpenters union joins with N.Y. counterpart

By ,

The New Jersey Carpenter Contractor Trust announced it has entered into an agreement with the Empire State Carpenters Labor Management Funds to utilize shared resources for the marketing and promotion of union carpenters and contractors.

The organizations will operate under a new name, the Carpenter Contractor Trust of New York and New Jersey: The Construction Network.

According to a release, the partnership acknowledges the combined vast resources of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters’ 30,000 members and its 792 participating contractor partners. The NRCC is the skilled trade organization representing carpenters of New Jersey and New York.

A catalyst for the agreement is the recognition of changing conditions in the construction industry, according to the release.

"Our organization, in concert with our union contractors, has already begun the process of creating a new business model that is more reflective of the current market within the industry and brings added value to any project, private or public,” said Michael Capelli, of the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters, in a release."
