Identifying the all-stars on the NJBIZ Power lists

It was a distinction first earned by Caren Franzini. Then George Norcross.

As of yesterday, there are two more people who are members of this elite group: Robert Barchi and Finn Wentworth. I’m talking about people who have been on three different NJBIZ Power lists.

When she was head of the EDA, Franzini was on the Power 100, Power 50 Real Estate and 2011 Power 50 Banking lists. Norcross, Barchi and Wentworth have been on the Power 100, Power 50 Real Estate and Power 50 Health Care lists.

This roll call of all-stars is interesting because it shows the range and reach of these power players in multiple areas of New Jersey business. Barchi has burst on to the New Jersey scene—and NJBIZ Power lists—after mere months as Rutgers president because of his bold plans for the university and the medical school coming into its fold. Wentworth, besides being a national real estate figure at Normandy, is also close to the governor’s inner circle and has reportedly been a major influence at Atlantic Health System where he uses his deep Rolodex to raise money. Franzini’s gig at the EDA, often called the “bank,” impacted New Jersey business on a wide scale. Then there’s Norcross who is, well, George Norcross, and who seems to get involved in whatever strikes his fancy.

Four people with very different personalities who now share one thing in common: being NJBIZ Power list all-stars.
