In Print: Russo returns, big wigs back JC mayoral candidates

State Street’s newest business lobbyist is an old hand.

In this week’s State Street column, we profile Tony Russo, who starts today as vice president of government affairs and communications at the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. Russo previously worked at the Chemistry Council of New Jersey for more than a decade, before leaving for a Washington, D.C. lobbying job back in 2009.

State Street’s also got the details on the popular incentives overhaul bills put forth by Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) and Assemblyman Albert Coutinho (D-Newark). The bills have broad support within the business community, and Gov. Chris Christie has indicated he’s eager to sign the bill. Both bills sailed through committee last week, though Coutinho says don’t look for final passage until May.

Meanwhile, Grapevine looks at some of the behind-the-scenes alliances in Jersey City’s heated mayoral race. The column has the latest on where some of North Jersey’s political heavy-hitters fall in the race between Steven Fulop and Jerramiah Healy.

Grapevine also reports on a major office complex potentially up for sale in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards. And there’s word on even more partnerships within the state’s fast-changing hospital industry.
