Atlantic City Electric seeks higher distribution charge

Atlantic City Electric, in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton, announced Monday it had asked the Board of Public Utilities to adjust several pass-through charges that appear on customers’ bills to address the increased cost of long-term power purchase contracts with non-utility generators.

In an announcement, the utility said if the request is approved by the BPU, a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours per month would see a 1.86 percent increase in the monthly bill. The total monthly bill would go up by $3.37, from $181.52 to $184.89, effective June 1, 2013.
