Looming federal budget cuts mean little pain for some, a lot for others

For tens of thousands in the Garden State, the across-the-board reductions — the subject of furious political debate in Washington — are expected to translate into lost jobs and pay cuts of as much as 20 percent through furloughs in the months ahead, federal officials said.
