You’ve waited all year, wondering who would be our top pick as the most influential person in the New Jersey real estate community. If you were following closely, you thought you’d find out today.

The list, which is part of our Real Estate Report supplement, is now scheduled to publish on Dec. 3. The supplement was scheduled to go to the printer one of the days NJBIZ was closed for the storm. The list was completed, and there were just some final small changes needed in the rest of the supplement before shipping it off to the printer. Unfortunately, pushing publication of the list to Nov. 19 or Nov. 26 was not an option because other supplements were already scheduled for those dates.

Managing Editor Joe St. Arney and I—who compile and rank the list and write all the blurbs—are very eager to see the list published. I’d imagine you are too.

So, in the meantime, I will offer a couple clues about the 2012 list. We have a new No. 1 person this year. For Manny Stern supporters: you know he was No. 1 last year as sort of a black hat pick because of the whole tussle over Panasonic. That’s now old news. Which brings me to another point: we had a high turnover again on this Power list. About half the people on last year’s list fell off (so if you are one of them, don’t fret—you are in good company). Joe and I always make sure all our Power lists reflect current events, defined as the past 12 months, and we also look at who is likely to keep trending up in the near future. In New Jersey, things move fast and the ever-changing world of real estate is no exception. The 2012 Power 50 Real Estate list and its turnover rate reflects that.

I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that nothing changes between now and Dec. 3 that would alter our Power list. In New Jersey, you never know.
