Hospice nursing company Amedisys Inc. in Baton Rouge, La., said Monday it signed the purchase agreement for the home health operations of Hackensack University Medical Center. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hackensack’s Home Health Agency was launched in 1966 and provides rehabilitation therapy, social work services and nursing care to patients at home.

Amedisys announced the deal in September. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval by the State of New Jersey. The deal will give Amedisys its first foothold in the home health care market in the state. Hackensack’s home health operations serve Bergen and Hudson counties, generating some $19 million in annual revenue, said Amedysis.
