Generic drug maker Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited said today that it has settled the issues surrounding its possible patent litigation with GlaxoSmithKline related to Imitrex, the British drug maker’s medicine for migraine headaches.

The settlement provides that India-based Ranbaxy, which has its U.S. headquarters in Princeton, may distribute sumatriptan succinate tablets, a generic version of Imitrex tablets, in three dosages in the United States. The expected launch date is December. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Annual sales for Imitrex are $985 million, according to statistics cited by Ranbaxy. Imitrex is also sold as a nasal spray and an injection.
