Description

The day one is inspired to start their own business, they are immediatly tasked with several resolutions one being to choose whether to be an independently bootstrapped business or jumping on the bandwagon of an established and successful franchise. Each has many pluses and minues all of which were evaluated by Ted Kwok when he and his partners embarked on their dreams to open a coffee shop.

Coffe shops are well engrained part of our society yet their popularity does not guarantee success. Even the mighty Starbucks (which is not a franchise model) closed hunders of its stores several years ago when sales were tough. Knowing the challenges of the business, Ted considered several options while embarking on his small business dreams and encountered many obstacles.

Ted will share his experiences and struggles in an open discussion with question and answers to follow. Come learn from Ted's experiences whether looking to start you own small business or are an established entrepreneur!

Bio: Ted Kwok is co-owner of Rock N' Joe's Coffe Shop of Union, and host of our monthly meetups. He begain his small business ownership dreams circa 2009 and soon after found a coffee shop location when NJ Transit opened their Union Station. After several years negotiating leases and franchising agreements he finally realized his dream in 2011 when the doors finally opened to business!
