Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) An Approach to Deterring Criminal Behavior through Environmental Design in your Downtown. Guest Speaker: ALEX FANFARILLO, Chief of Police, Glassboro, NJ. . CPTED strategies rely upon enhancing the built environment to create a setting that is comfortable for desirable uses, and less susceptible to the commission of crime. CPTED can be applied in downtown retail corridors to enhance shopper comfort and safety, and to train merchants in safer retail practices for the operation of their stores.
