Description
Tickets are still available for the Rancocas Conservancy's Annual Meeting and Dinner on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Lumberton Leas, 180 Woodside Drive, Lumberton, NJ.
The Rancocas Conservancy is a private, non-profit land trust, dedicated to preserving, protecting and enhancing the ecological and cultural integrity of the Rancocas Creek Watershed and its environs. Since incorporating in 1991, the Rancocas Conservancy has acquired or agreed to manage more than 1,850 acres of the 360-square-mile Rancocas Watershed. The Conservancy works with property owners who are interested in the voluntary conservation of their land, either through donation of a conservation easement or outright ownership.
The Conservancy’s Annual Meeting and Dinner begins with an optional hike along the Rancocas Creek at 5 pm. For those not up to hiking, hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer will be served from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, followed by dinner and the program, which will include a brief overview of the organization’s activities. The organization also will reprise its very popular watershed-themed Silent Auction.
Additionally, the Rancocas Conservancy will present its Thomas/Rich award to John Volpa for his dedication and support of the Conservancy and the Rancocas Watershed. Mr. Volpa recently retired from teaching at Indian Mills Middle School where, year-after-year, he involved his students in the protection of and respect for native habitat and the Pinelands, in particular.
