Slow and steady defines the
approach taken by The Walters
Group since its founding in 1984.
>>>“If you are diligent, honest and
you make what is truly important a
priority in your approach to doing
business, then success will follow. We
are opposed to the idea of maximizing
profits at any cost,” says Edward
Walters Jr., the firm’s founder.
>>>The company, which is engaged
in both residential and commercial
development, focuses on completing
difficult projects and taking on
developments that benefit both the
public and private sectors.
>>>For instance, the company recently
received a green light to redevelop a
landfill site in Stafford Township,
Ocean County.
>>>Plans call for age-restricted housing
units, affordable apartments and
office space, including municipal public
works facilities. The development
will also include a retail complex with
anchor stores, boutiques and restaurants,
as well as an ice skating rink.

>Environmental concerns on the
Stafford project led Walters to
hire biologists to study
plants and animals that live on the
site and figure out ways to ensure they
continue to thrive.
>>>Charitable giving also is a hallmark
of The Walters Group. A number
of local and national nonprofits have
benefited from the company’s time
and money.
>>>One of the company’s newest
endeavors is a summer food drive to
benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth
and Ocean Counties. This year’s
effort netted 624 pounds of food and
nearly $6,500.
